Virat Kohli is a supremely confident cricketer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has proved it once again with a hilarious revelation. While the former India skipper is regarded as one of the best batsmen of all time especially in limited-overs cricket, he does not command the same recognition for his bowling.
The right-handed batsman is definitely not known for his bowling but it has not dented his confidence at all. India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has revealed just how confident Virat Kohli is in his bowling. The right-arm pacer has hilariously revealed that Virat Kohli thinks he’s the best bowler in the team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also revealed that Virat Kohli’s teammates always remain worried that he might end up getting injured due to his bowling action.
“Virat Kohli thinks he’s the best bowler in the team,” Bhuvneshwar said during an event in Mumbai on Monday. “We’re always scared when he bowls as he could get injured due to his bowling action.”
In his illustrious career so far, Virat Kohli has scored 25000 runs in international cricket with the help of 76 centuries and 131 fifties across formats. However, he has managed to pick up just 8 wickets in international cricket so far. Even in domestic cricket, he has managed to take only 15 wickets. Since the beginning of 2018, he has also bowled just one over in international cricket.
Virat Kohli on his bowling:
A few years ago, Virat Kohli opened up about his bowling and revealed the reason behind not bowling regularly. He also revealed that none of his teammates take his bowling seriously.
“It was the during the ODI series in Sri Lanka (in 2017) where we had almost won everything, I asked MS (Dhoni) if I could bowl. Just when I was getting ready to roll my arm over, Bumrah (Jasprit) shouted from the boundary and said ‘no joking around, it is an international game’.
“No one in the team believes in my bowling but I do. After that I had back issues and then never bowled (in the middle),” Virat Kohli said in 2019.
Virat Kohli the batter will be seen in action soon when the Asia Cup gets underway. India are scheduled to begin their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele.
