Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud contributed immensely to his team in the ongoing Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka. The pacer not only bowled staggering well but he also exhibited brilliant fielding skills in the game in Colombo.
Sri Lanka were asked to bat first and conditions didn’t allow them to score quickly. In the end, they tried to accelerate but the brilliance of Bangladesh bowlers didn’t allow them to score runs quickly and end the innings with a mammoth score.
Hasan Mahmud removed dangerous Dasun Shanaka in the end and then followed it with a brilliant run out of Dunith Wellalage. The Bangladesh pacer nailed his yorker on the fourth ball of the 49th over. Sadeera Samarawickrama got hit on the shoes but they tried to sneak the leg bye in terms of getting runs.

Hasan Mahmud was the key performer for Bangladesh with the ball. He picked up three wickets in the 9 overs he bowled. The pacer conceded 57 runs and removed Dimuth Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dasun Shanaka.

Sri Lanka had a decent start with the bat as Dimuth Karunaratne (18) and Pathum Nissanka (40) batted well at the top. Kusal Mendis slammed a vital half-century as well. But the middle order didn’t contribute much apart from Sadeera Samarawickrama.
Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 93 runs and powered Sri Lanka to a total of 257 runs. For Bangladesh, apart from Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed picked three wickets as well whereas Shoriful Islam also bagged two wickets. This will be a crucial game for Bangladesh as they have already suffered a loss in their first Super Four game against Pakistan.
