IND vs AUS: "Cameron Green's Performance As An Opener Very Impressive, Bodes Well"- Andrew McDonald

Australian Cricket Team would be overjoyed after seeing the performance of Cameron Green. The flamboyant all-rounder is quite new to International Arena while he had no experience of opening the batting for Australia. The right-handed batter struck two half-centuries and was looking in sublime touch. It seemed as if he is used to playing at the top of the order.
Smashing Indian bowlers on any deck is by no means easy; the batter’s peculiarity was that he never allowed any bowler to settle down. Cameron Green has started giving happy headaches to Cricket Australia (CA) as now a lot of experts are saying that the all-rounder deserves a place in the T20 World Cup 2022. The batter has shown some monstrous hitting ability which would be required on Australian grounds.
Andrew McDonald on Cameron Green
Andrew McDonald was asked about Cameron Green in the Post-match press conference and was quite praiseworthy on the all-rounder. “He’s certainly embracing the challenge of opening. We’ve asked him to show great intent at the top of the order and I think everything we’ve seen so far shows that he’s doing that. It’s probably opportunistic the way that he’s come into the opening position with obviously David Warner not being here and a couple of other players from our (T20) World Cup 15. Fortuitous, but he’s taken that opportunity and what he can do go out there if given an opportunity.” said the Australian Head Coach.
“We thought he had the skill when we did our strategy before we come over here and had the skillsets to succeed. And he’s taken on some of the best bowlers in world cricket. You could argue Jasprit (Bumrah) is one of the best T20 bowlers ever. So to be able to do that, work your way through that situation again tonight (during the match on Sunday), and do it two out of three times is very impressive and bodes well.” added McDonald.
Time Running out for Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell had a terrible T20I Series with the bat. It looked as if the batter didn’t want to up the ante. There was no intent from the batter and it’s unacceptable from a senior member of the team. Australian Cricket Team is eyeing back-to-back titles and for that, every individual needs to perform.
Maxwell has only a handful of T20Is to make a mark. The batter is consuming balls that are doing no good to the team. Australia has a lot of all-rounders present in the form of Mitchell Marsh & Marcus Stoinis and now Green has also stamped his authority. Cricket Australia won’t think twice before leaving him out for the marque event as there’s no performance.
