Australian National Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against India in the upcoming T20I Series starting from 20th September. Australia has made a surprise inclusion in the 11th hour by naming Tim David in the squad. Tim David who is a Singapore-Australian batter won’t have asked for a better debut against a powerful India team.
Mitchell Marsh, one of the architects of the 2021 T20 World Cup triumph has been given a precautionary break following a minor injury. The peculiarity of the Australian Cricket Team is that they have got a lot of all-rounders present which makes them a force to reckon with. Steve Smith looks all set to get a promotion up the order in the absence of Mitchell Marsh
Aaron Finch on Steve Smith
Australian T20I captain Aaron Finch has made an interesting claim ahead of the T20I series against India. “Most likely he (Steve Smith) will bat at three in this series with Mitch Marsh being out.”
“We know the quality that Steve’s got. He is one of the best players that has ever played the game over all formats of the game. So we know the skill that he has got and the game sense and the tactical nous that he has got,” he added
“So we are really confident that regardless of what role he has to play within the structure of the squad, that he can do that very, very well,” said Finch.
Steve Smith A Surprise Package
The right-handed batter has not been a force to reckon with in T20I cricket. It may be because his game doesn’t suit the modern T20Is. His game plan can actually work in Indian conditions where the Mohali pitch would be somewhat spin friendly. We all have seen that Aussies aren’t that comfortable against quality spin attacks.
Smith will have to make sure that he scores runs at a good rate. The management can’t keep him in the team without scoring any handful of runs. When Mitchell Marsh comes, Smith may move down the order or maybe have to make a way out for a better team combination.
