Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh arrived in Mohali for the series opener against Australia. A pavilion named after the dynamic left-hander has been built in this stadium, which was unveiled prior to the start of the match. During this time he appeared on the commentary panel of the match where he talked about the memories of the T20 World Cup 2007, where he hit 6 sixes.
The first T20I of the three-match series between India and Australia is being played at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali on September 20, 2022. The remaining two T20Is will be played in Nagpur on Sept 23 and in Hyderabad on Sept 25.

Ahead of the match, Virat Kohli was seen talking to veteran India cricketer Yuvraj Singh who was present in the PCA stadium which is also his home ground. BCCI posted a video of the same on their official Twitter account.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to field first. During the coin toss, Finch also revealed that Tim David will be making his T20I debut for Kangaroos. On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will miss out on the tie with Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, and Umesh Yadav coming into the playing XI.
