Dinesh Karthik has stated that India’s loss to Australia in the third Test highlighted a few problems that were evident in recent matches, despite the fact that they won.
India’s winning streak in home Tests came to an end on Friday with a crushing nine-wicket loss to Australia.

Australia defeated India by 9 wickets in the third Test at Indore thanks to strong performances from Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne. Australia’s third day of chasing 76 began disastrously when Usman Khawaja was dismissed for zero.
But, Head and Labuschagne started out cautiously before exploding in anger at India’s spinners Ashwin and Jadeja. Six boundaries and one maximum were part of Head’s undefeated 49 off 53 balls. Six fours were also part of Labuschagne’s 28* total.
After losing the opening two matches in Nagpur and Delhi, which were also completed in three days, Australia was able to draw first blood in the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy competition. India won the toss and decided to bat to open the game.
However, the strategy failed as India was dismissed for 109 runs, which allowed Australia to pile on 197 runs and take a commanding 88-run lead. Australia had a relatively simple task of chasing down India’s 163 in the second innings.

“I completely empathize with the Indian batters”: Dinesh Karthik
India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has stated that this loss highlights the fact that India’s top and middle order have constantly failed, despite efforts from the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel.
“We cannot hide from the fact that India’s top 7 haven’t got the scores that they would like. We are talking about consistent collapses. Is batting difficult on this pit? Most definitely. But as a team, they have chosen to play on these pitches which means they need to back themselves on them” Dinesh Karthik said.
“They are capable of it, a lot of the players in isolation have probably played on tougher pitches and succeeded but playing international cricket is a different ball game,” said Dinesh Karthik on Cricbuzz.
“When you get out a couple of times there are so many doubts that come, the confidence gets low. And then, to go out there and still back yourself just to play those big shots to get away from pressure can be really hard. I completely empathize with the Indian batters, it is hard work, but that is what Test cricket is,” Dinesh Karthik Added.
Axar Patel, who bats eighth, has 185 runs in the series. Only Rohit Sharma, who made a century in the first Test, is ahead of him, with Virat Kohli coming in second. Kohli, on the other hand, has only 111 runs in four innings, with an average of 22.20.
