The Aussie team that will play four tests in India beginning on February 9 includes Lance Morris, who has not yet made his Australian debut.

Given that senior placeman Starc announced on Monday that he is unlikely to be fit for the first Test after sustaining a finger injury, the 24-year-old tearaway fast bowler may be given the go-ahead to play the 1st Test in Nagpur.

Don’t Want To Put Too Many Expectations On Myself: Lance Morris

The highly regarded cricketer isn’t placing too much pressure on himself, though, and is hoping to use his visit to the subcontinent as a “learning experience.” In an interview with SEN Mornings, Lance Morris shared his thoughts on his first overseas tour, saying:

“I don’t want to put too many expectations on myself, I just want to use this as a learning experience, I’ve never toured with cricket before so this will be my first overseas experience. It’s going to be a huge learning opportunity for me.”

When asked about the feedback on bowling pace in India, Morris was honest about the challenges he might face.

“The feedback (of bowling pace in India) hasn’t been too great, to be honest,” Lance Morris said.

“There’s not a whole lot to look forward to, I’m not going to see the ball zipping through to the keeper and him taking it (in the gloves) fingers up.

It’s Going To Be A Bit Of Challenge: Lance Morris

Despite the challenges, Morris is excited about the opportunity, saying, ” It sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a challenge, but it’ll be exciting nonetheless. We’ve got some great guys in the squad and a really experienced group now. It’s been good to have some training sessions learning off them.”

The Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award was recently won by Lance Morris. Along with Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Scott Boland, he is one of the four pace bowlers in the Australian team.
