Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remaining limited-overs matches against Pakistan.
On Monday, the 30-year-old all-rounder suffered a hip flexor injury during a training session which ruled him out of the first ODI match against Pakistan.
I am disappointed to miss the Pakistan series: Mitchell Marsh
In the recent developments, Marsh won’t stay with the Australian squad in Pakistan and will leave for India to join Delhi Capitals, as mentioned in an ESPNcricinfo report.
“Being able to focus on my recovery without the travel and isolation break is the best approach. I am disappointed to miss the Pakistan series but look forward to re-joining the Australian squad for our next tour,” Marsh said in a Cricket Australia statement on Wednesday.
Australia won the first ODI by 88 runs after Travis Head’s 72-ball 101 powered them to a commendable score of 313. The visitors bowled out Babar Azam and his men for 225 to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Mitchell Marsh to continue rehab with Delhi Capitals
Marsh is reportedly said to complete his rehabilitation process in the Delhi Capitals camp. The team’s physiotherapist Patrick Farhart will look after the Australian player’s injury once the all-rounder arrives in India and completes his mandatory isolation period.
Marsh’s injury became a major concern in his participation for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. Marsh pulled out of IPL 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) due to bubble fatigue and sustained an ankle injury ahead of IPL 2020. If the Perth Scorchers skipper happens to miss this season then it will be his third IPL season in a row where he won’t participate despite being picked in each year.
Delhi Capitals will hope for South African pacer Anrich Nortje to join their core squad after the player was recently cleared of any serious injury and is still under rehab in the franchise’s camp. Farhat had visited South Africa last week to conduct his own assessment with the player.
Delhi Capitals won their first game of IPL 2022 against Mumbai Indians by five wickets and the Rishabh Pant-led side will take on Gujarat Titans in their next fixture on April 2.
