Pakistan pace bowler Shaheen Afridi finished Australia’s innings by dismissing Mitchell Swepson Day 2 of the third and final Test between the two teams at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Shaheen was the one who put Pakistan in front early on Day 1 as he dismissed both David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne in a matter of three deliveries. The Aussies managed to recover, but it was Shaheen once again who was required to end the innings.

Coming in from around the wicket, Shaheen made use of the angle and the old ball to bring one in sharply at the base of the stumps. It was too good a delivery for Swepson, who couldn’t get his bat down in time. The stumps were uprooted as Shaheen ended the innings with figures of 4/79.

Meanwhile, the Aussies will be extremely happy with how much they managed to put on the board after being down at 8/2. Usman Khawaja once again fell in the 90s while Steve Smith contributed with a gutsy 59.

But it was the partnership between Alex Carey and Cameron Green for the sixth wicket that put the Aussies in the driver’s seat. Both scored the fifties and put together 136 on the scorecards to safely take the visitors past the 350-run mark.

A few bonus runs were added by the bowlers as Australia ended with a total of 391 on the board at the end of session 2 on Day 2. Both teams will be looking to go for the win in order to secure the series and the precious WTC points on offer.
