Day 3 of the Test match began on schedule in Galle and Oshada Fernando replaced Mathews in Sri Lanka playing XI as Covid substitute. Notably, Mathews will be in isolation for five days.
“He was found to be positive during a Rapid Anti-Gen Test Conducted on the player, yesterday,” a statement from Sri Lanka said.
“The test was done, as the player was feeling unwell. Accordingly, he has been isolated from the rest of the team members and is following Covid-19 protocols.”
