Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has said that the side is driven and fired up to achieve something special in the second Test against New Zealand. The Test gets underway in Christchurch from January 09 with the visitors leading the series 1-0.

Pacer Ebadot Hossain led Bangladesh to an inspiring victory in the first Test at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. He took 6/46 in the second innings to help The Tigers win the match by 8 wickets. It was the first win for the visitors against the Kiwis in 16 Test matches between the sides.

“They’re halfway there, the job’s not done, but they’re very driven to try and achieve something very special. It’s a young side so they don’t come here with all the scars that some of the older players have gained from playing against New Zealand so many times,” Domingo said on the eve of the 2nd Test which will also be Ross Taylor‘s last Test of his career.

The pitch at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch has a bit of grass covering heading into the opening day. Domingo believes that it is an opportunity for the Bangladesh pacers to make the most of the conditions.

“We’ve got some really quality fast bowlers at the moment and it’s not often Bangladesh can say that they’re actually looking forward to bowling on a wicket that has got a bit of grass on it” said Russell.

The Bangladesh coach went onto say that this kind of opportunity does not come very often and the young side are looking forward to making the most of this opportunity.

“Opportunities like this don’t come around very often. You’re confident, you’re playing well and you’ve got a good balance to your side at the moment and conditions, as crazy as it might sound, could actually suit us. It’s not often that Bangladesh can say they are looking forward to bowling on a wicket that has grass on it. We got three high-quality fast bowlers and are confident. If we do get into the wicket early and it offers something, hopefully, we can do some damage,” Russell Domingo concluded saying.
