Bangladesh bowler Taskin Ahmed proved his worth with a remarkable effort that led to his country’s first-ever international victory.

Taskin also revealed his ambition of following his idol Mashrafe Mortaza. The former Bangladesh captain is the country’s most successful pace bowler of all time.

At the series-deciding game against South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday, the lanky fast bowler resisted the urge to try too many things and received the benefits of bowling to his strengths (March 23).

Taskin, who notched up his second five-wicket haul of the series against South Africa in their own home, blended his changes well and avoided the desire to unleash short-pitched deliveries repeatedly. For some time, he had also been focusing on his cross-seam deliveries, and he used well to annoy the hosts.

Taskin’s coach Mahbub Ali said on Wednesday, “He was practicing with cross-seam and semi-cross seam for such a long and appeared fairly decent yesterday combining two those deliveries.” “Just after the Afghanistan series, we noticed that his speed had slowed as well, so we worked hard to get it back since it is his specialty.”

Taskin Ahmed also declared his desire to be like Mashrafe Mortaza, his idol:

Taskin also revealed his ambition of emulating his idol Mashrafe Mortaza.

“When I first began playing cricket, I was indeed a big fan of Mashrafe bhai, and I had the honor of playing under him,” Taskin said. “I call if I get a chance, and he always answers.”

“He is a renowned fast bowler, and I aspire to be just like him, a legendary fast bowler for my nation.” I know I’ll have to put in a lot of effort, and there’s a long way to go. There will be excellent and horrible matches, and I’d like to watch the process unfold.”

Earlier to the series decider, Taskin shot to attention after IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants approached the Bangladesh Cricket Board to recruit him as Mark Wood’s substitute for the competition.

The BCB, on the other hand, opted not to give him the NOC in the middle of the series, which the teenager accepted without complaint.

Taskin won the man of the match award in the final ODI and was also named the player of the series.
