Sydney Sixers take on Hobart Hurricanes in the 4th match of the 11th edition of BBL on Wednesday. Defending champions, Sydney Sixers have begun their campaign with a mammoth 152-run win over Melbourne Stars in their first game. Riding on sensational knock from Philippe (83 off 47), J Vince (44 off 29), and Henriques (76 off 38), Syndey Sixers posted a gigantic total of 213 runs in the first innings.

The bowlers too were brilliant on the day as they bundled out Melbourne Stars for just 61 runs in the second innings. Playing potentially his last season, Steve OKeefe was brilliant with the ball. He picked the wicket of dangerous Joe Clark in the very first over of the innings to leave the Stars on the back foot straightaway.

One ball later, he sent back Nick Larkin without letting him open his account. OKeefe set the tone for the win and finished with figures of 4 for 14 in 4 overs. Sean Abbott too was outstanding with the ball as he picked three wickets for just 14 runs in 3 overs. Besides, Hayden Kerr and Tom Curran picked 2 and 1 wicket respectively.

Facing them are Hobart Hurricanes, who will be playing their first game on Wednesday. Hurricanes won seven matches out of 14 last year and finished at sixth on the points table. Due to an inferior net run rate to Adelaide, they couldn’t play go to the latter stage of the tournament. Hurricanes would be hoping to exhibit a better performance this year.

Mathew Wade, who played an instrumental role with the bat for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final game against Pakistan, is set to lead the team. He will be their biggest bet in the batting department. Wade will be supported by the likes of Darcy Short, Ben McDermott, Harry Brook, Tim David, all of whom are powerful hitters of the game. Besides, they have got Peter Handsomb who could play the anchor role in the team.

As for the bowling, the team can depend on Sandeep Lamichhane and Riley Meridith. The stock of both the players has risen exponentially and it will be interesting to see how they perform this year. The duo will be supported by Nathan Ellis and Scott Boland.
