The Andhra cricket team represents the state of Andhra Pradesh in Indian domestic cricket. It was founded in 1953 and is managed by the Andhra Cricket Association. The team plays its home games at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. The Andhra team also plays its home matches in Anantapur and Kadapa.
Talking about Andhra cricket team's history, the organisation's root can be traced to 1951 when the Guntur Recreation Club was set up. The club was affiliated to the Madras Cricket Association. Two years later, the Andhra Cricket Association was formed in 1953.
The legendary C. K. Nayudu played a big role in the formation of ACA and was its founder president. The former cricketer was also the first captain of the Andhra cricket team. Andhra participated in the Ranji Trophy for the first time in the 1953-54 season. In Andhra's debut match, their captain Nayudu scored the team's first-ever fifty.
Since its debut, Andhra has competed in every Ranji Trophy season except the 1961-62 season. They are yet to win any major tournament in Indian domestic circuit. Andhra has never qualified for the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy.
In 2018, they reached the semi-finals of the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, making it to the last four of the List A tournament for the first time.
