The Kerala cricket team represents the state of Kerala in Indian domestic cricket. It is governed by the Kerala Cricket Association and plays its home games at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
Talking about Kerala cricket team's history, it was founded in 1957 and was first known as as Travancore-Cochin cricket team. The Kerala cricket team played its first first-class game against Madras in 1957. In its debut Ranji Trophy season, Kerala lost all of its four games including three by an innings.
The Kerala cricket team is yet to win any major tournament in Indian domestic cricket. In Ranji Trophy, the team enjoyed its best in late 2010s. In 2017, Kerala cricket team qualified for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals for the first time. In the very next season, Kerala came up with their best-ever Ranji Trophy performance by making it to the semifinals.
Two cricketers from Kerala have represented Team India in Test cricket so far. The first player to do so was Tinu Yohannan before S Sreesanth played Test cricket too. Sreesanth was also a part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. Sanju Samson has represented India in ODIs and T20Is but is yet to play Test cricket.
