SRH vs MI Match Prediction- Who Will Win Today’s IPL Match? IPL 2024, Match 8

The SRH vs MI IPL 2024 match will be played in Hyderabad on Wednesday, March 27. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and is the first home game for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, this is MI’s second back-to-back away game this season. 

Overall, in 21 games in the IPL, MI has won 12 matches and SRH nine. The contest is pretty even so to speak. However, in the last five games Mumbai Indians won four of the five games.

Team Analysis

Mumbai Indians

MI lost to the Gujarat Titans in their opening game. They have been losing their season openers on the trot since 2013. Against GT, they lost by six runs chasing 169 to 1in. They needed 19 to win off the final over and they fell short by six runs. Hardik Pandya, the newly-appointed skipper thus could not change MI’s fortune in the first game. Some of his decision-making was questionable. However, he spoke about coming back as Mumbai does in the next few games. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad

This is the first home game for SRH this season. They have three more games remaining in the first leg and play two of the games at home. After playing Mumbai Indians at home on Wednesday, they play GT in Ahmedabad (March 31) followed by their final game against CSK at home on April 5. They played Cummins, Klaasen, Markram, and Jansen as their four overseas players in the last game. 

One of the problems they will continue to have in the first leg is to properly identify their four overseas players who can be the best fit against a given opponent based on different conditions. That said, Wanindu Hasaranga one of their key players is yet to join the side.

Key Factors 

So far 71 IPL matches have been played at this venue with 40 matches won by the team chasing. This is a chasing ground in the IPL with 231 the highest score posted at this venue. Both teams have some big hitters in their ranks and this is expected to be another high-scoring contest. Both teams have a few very good international fast bowlers as well. 

Form and Fitness 

Fitness-wise, MI have a few more concerns than Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hardik Pandya recently recovered from his ankle injury and led Mumbai Indians in the first game. There are always concerns surrounding Bumrah’s fitness off late. 

Form-wise the SRH batters are in better form compared to MI batters. Heinrich Klaasesn and Aiden Markram almost won the match against KKR. Rohit Sharma’s form will be keenly monitored throughout the IPL leading into the IPL. With the ball, Bumrah was special against GT and had 16 wickets against SRH.

Tactical Acumen

A few calls taken by Hardik Pandya as Mumbai Indians captain was questionable as he opened the bowling instead of a certain Jasprit Bumrah in the XI. Cummins was impressive with his decision-making. His international experience as captain might be the deciding factor in this match.
