Team India and England are facing each other in the second semifinal of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The game is scheduled to take place on Thursday (June 27) in Guyana.

This is the second time in a row that India and England will be facing each other in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup. They had played against each other in the semifinal of the last T20 World Cup as well. On that occasion, England had won the game by 10 wickets and would be looking to replicate that performance again while India would be desperate to avenge that loss.

While only time will reveal the winner of the second semifinal, a number of former cricketers have overwhelmingly picked India as the favorites to win the game. Speaking on Star Sports, former South Africa cricketer Dale Steyn, ex-New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, and former Australia captain Aaron Finch picked India as the favorites.

Meanwhile, the winner of the second semifinal will be facing South Africa in the final. Earlier in the day, South Africa thrashed Afghanistan by 9 wickets to qualify for the final for the first time in their history.

India vs England in T20 World Cup:

India and England have played against each other in the T20 World Cup four times and both the teams have won two games each so far. Their first meeting took place in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 and India had won that game by 18 runs. It was the same game in which Yuvraj Singh had famously hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.

In 2009, they faced each other again and England emerged victorious by 3 runs. The third meeting between them in the T20 World Cup took place in 2012 in Sri Lanka. On that occasion, India had thrashed the English outfit by 90 runs. Rohit Sharma had scored an unbeaten fifty in that game and would be looking to play a match-winning knock in the upcoming game as well.

After 2012, India and England faced each other in the T20 World Cup after a gap of 10 years when they locked horns in the semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup. England had thrashed India by 10 wickets in the game and had gone on to win the T20 World Cup.

Overall, both teams have played 23 T20Is against each other so far and India are slightly ahead in the head-to-head record. While India have won 12 of the 23 games, England have won 11.
