Two-time IPL winner and former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has urged the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB] to walk the talk and break the duck as far as winning an IPL title is concerned.

Despite having some of the greatest T20 players like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Kevin Pietersen, Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB] has more often than not flattered to deceive.

They have reached IPL finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 and on each occasion, they failed to breach the final barrier.

RCB’s performance since the 2016 IPL has been pretty appalling. The Virat Kohli-led unit has managed to reach the top-4 in just one season since 2016 and have finished at the bottom of the table on a couple of occasions.

“They’ve always had the firepower. They’ve had players like Kevin Pietersen, they’ve had players like Chris Gayle in their ranks. It’s about walking the talk now. Every year they keep talking about having the firepower, but I think it’s important to deliver. Yes, they’ve got Maxwell now and obviously it’s going to increase their firepower with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers,” Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports ahead of IPL 2021 opener between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gambhir further added that what surprises him the most is that despite playing on a small ground like the Chinnaswamy, RCB has failed to get past the finishing line.

”They need to deliver. It’s been 13 long years and they still haven’t delivered. It’s a bit of a surprise. You’ve had guys like Pietersen, Gayle playing at the Chinnaswamy for all these years and still you couldn’t deliver. There has to be something wrong,” Gambhir explained.
