Fans on Twitter reacted after India booked their berth in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They defeated Australia by 24 runs in the Group 1 encounter at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium at Gros Islet in St Lucia.

Asked to bat first, it wasn’t the kind of start that India would’ve wanted as Virat Kohli’s torrid run with the bat continued, perishing for a duck. But after that, skipper Rohit Sharma (92) went berserk and didn’t look behind.

He slammed Australian bowlers all over the park and kept his team ahead in the game. Rishabh Pant (15) and Suryakumar Yadav (31) supported the captain well and added 87 and 34 runs respectively for the second and third wicket at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium at Gros Islet in St Lucia.

In the end, it was Shivam Dube (28) and Hardik Pandya (27*) who made sure India ended the innings on high. Based on the collective effort with the bat, they posted a massive total of 205 runs. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 1/14.

In the chase, Australia lost David Warner in the first over. But after that skipper Mitchell Marsh (37) and Travis Head (76) counter-attacked the Indian bowlers and put them under pressure, giving them the scare.

The Head-Marsh duo added 81 runs for the second wicket and brought their team back in the game. Glenn Maxwell (20) made a valuable contribution but after that, nothing went Australia’s way. India bowlers kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals. They restricted the opposition to 181 and won the game by 24 runs.
