21 Year Old England Cricketer Will Smeed Gives Up First Class Cricket To Sign White-Ball Deal With Somerset

Will Smeed, the dashing right-handed batter who is expected to be the next big thing in World Cricket has decided to focus on white-ball cricket. His decision to give up First class cricket is quite astonishing as hasn’t played red ball Cricket. He has signed a contract with Somerset till 2024 as his previous one was expected till 2023.

The dashing right-handed batter recently made headlines when he struck a century in the Hundred tournament. He made headlines in the T20 Blast too as the cricketer The 21-year-old batter has a wide range of shots and has all the traits in him to be a part of the England Cricket Team.

Will Smeed on Giving up First Class Cricket

Will Smeed said in a Somerset Press Release. “I feel that my game is better suited to white-ball cricket. After a huge amount of thorough and considered discussions, I feel that I need to solely focus my attention on the limited-overs formats in order to become the very best cricketer I can be.” said Will Smeed.

“I can assure people that this [is] not a decision that I’ve taken lightly, and I’ve spoken to a lot of people about it. I want to be the best player that I can be, and to do that I believe that this needs to be my focus.” he added.

England Cricket Team is on a high at the moment after winning T20 World Cup 2022. It won’t be wrong to say that the addition of the Hundred Tournament changed the face of the England Cricket Team as we saw how they were disciplined in their approach throughout the tournament.
