"24 off 24 doesn't look great"- Brian Lara's no-nonsense verdict on Virat Kohli's future in T20 World Cup 2024

West Indies legend Brian Lara believes that Indian batter Virat Kohli is going to make a late comeback in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in USA & West Indies.
Virat Kohli, who had scored just 5 runs across matches at the Group stages, had a poor yet decent outing in Barbados. The Indian team was taking on Afghanistan in what was their first match of the Super 8s. Despite the victory of the Indian team, many are still concerned about the form of Virat Kohli.
Kohli's IPL 2024 form
The former India captain has not been able to live up to the expectations everyone had of him, especially after IPL 2024. Virat Kohli had ended the richest T20 league as the highest run-getter with over 700 runs. It took him 15 matches for the RCB to score 741 runs which eventually helped him win the Orange Cap for a second time.
The best part about his 700+ run season was the strike rate which surged up to 150, which is his best in the league. He did all this as an opening batter along with skipper Faf du Plessis. Those performances prompted Indian captain Rohit Sharma and the team management to play him as an opener.
But out of 4 matches as of now in the ICC T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli hasn't done what he is known for. Against Ireland he scored just 1, against Pakistan he departed just for a boundary.
A golden duck was on the cards for him against the USA, whereas last night, he had a run-a-ball inning of 24. Despite the slow strike-rated innings, former West Indies opener Brian Lara feels the best of Virat Kohli is yet to come.
