In a colossal blow for the India National Cricket Team, the star pace-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has suffered a severe injury amid the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has hurt his knee while training in the gym and has been ruled out of the remainder of the five-match series against the England National Cricket Team.
Nitish Kumar Reddy becomes 4th Indian to get injured
The 22-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy was not part of India's playing XI in the first Test as all-rounder Shardul Thakur was given preference. However, just after one game, India moved on from Thakur and brought back the MCG centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy into the side.
In the second Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 1 & 1 and returned with figures of 0/29 in India's dominant win. Also, in the subsequent Test match at Lord's, Reddy improved his performance and registered scores of 30 & 13 and bowling figures of 2/62 & 1/20.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was highly likely to remain a part of the playing XI in the remainder of the two Test matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, but that would no longer be the case as he has suffered a serious injury.
As per several media reports, Reddy picked up a left knee injury on Sunday while training in the gym. He was doing a mobility training session when he sustained the injury, and the scans revealed ligament damage.
This development is the fourth injury blow for Team India ahead of the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester, which starts on July 23.

List of other injured Indians
The first massive injury blow that India suffered was in the form of the star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant hurting his index finger at Lord's in London, which forced him to play only as a batter in that game, with Dhruv Jurel donning the keeping gloves.
Then, during preparations for the Manchester Test, star pacer Arshdeep Singh, who was in contention for a debut, suffered a cut in his bowling hand while trying to stop the ball in his follow-through during a training session in Beckenham on Thursday.
Also, the Edgbaston hero Akash Deep, who is the third-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing five-match Test series, has been suffering from a groin and back issue.
Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep have been ruled out of the Manchester Test, while Rishabh Pant is likely to play a specialist batter. Also, India have added Anshul Kamboj to the squad and he is in line to make his debut as Jasprit Bumrah will only play one out of the remaining two games.
India backed to win the series despite setbacks
India are currently down 1-2 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 and have suffered numerous injury setbacks, but the former batsman Suresh Raina has backed the visitors to win the five-match series 3-2.
Speaking to ANI, Raina lauded Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Jasprit Bumrah. He elaborated:
"They will do it. They have that sense of desire, perseverance and determination. Gill will make his mark as a batter and as a captain. I think he has done really well.
“We saw how KL Rahul batted, offered some solidity as an opener and got good support from Yashasvi Jaiswal. Then Rishabh Pant, he has batted so differently and his wicketkeeping has been great."
"India won, then India lost, then won, then lost (talking about sessions during the Test series). However, as a player, Shubman Gill has done well. He has scored runs. Washington Sundar has done well. Jasprit Bumrah, I think his bowling was outstanding."
