Former Indian and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has revealed his all-time IPL XI during his recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel.
Ambati Rayudu’s dream IPL XI is packed with power hitters, iconic finishers, mystery spinners, and lethal pacers, and this team can crush any opposition in the tournament’s history.
Ambati Rayudu’s batting lineup features world-class explosive beaters
At the top of the order, Rayudu picked the “Universe Boss,” Chris Gayle. The West Indies batting legend changed T20 cricket forever. In his 142 IPL appearances, Gayle amassed 4,965 runs at a strike rate of 148.96, smashing a record six centuries and 357 sixes.
Alongside Gayle, Mumbai Indians’ opener and the five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma will open the batting for Rayudu. The Hitman has 7046 runs in 272 games, including two centuries and 47 fifties to his name in the world’s biggest T20 league.
RCB’s iconic batter Virat Kohli was handed the crucial number 3 batting position by his former India teammate. Kohli is the all-time IPL run machine with a staggering 8661 runs in 267 matches, including 8 centuries and 63 half-centuries to his name so far.
Ambati Rayudu picks MS Dhoni as his wicketkeeper
India’s modern-day destructive batter Suryakumar Yadav completed the former CSK batter’s top order. Suryakumar has so far piled up 4311 runs in 166 matches at a strike rate of around 149 in the tournament. He has two hundreds and 29 fifties to his name in the IPL so far.
The middle order features former Indian batter Suresh Raina and South African legend AB de Villiers. Raina scored 5,528 runs in 205 matches with one century and 39 fifties in the IPL. On the other hand, AB de Villiers amassed 5,162 runs in 184 matches at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 151.68 for the RCB. He smashed three centuries and 40 fifties in his IPL career.
Rayudu has picked MS Dhoni, the ultimate finisher and IPL’s most iconic captain, as his wicketkeeper-batter. Dhoni has 5439 runs in 278 matches at a strike rate of 137. The former Indian captain also won five IPL titles as the CSK captain.

Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine were picked as all-rounders
Ambati Rayudu has overlooked the Indian star all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya as he picked the West Indian giants Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine as his spin bowling all-rounders. Pollard, with 3,412 runs at a strike rate of 147.3 and 103 wickets, remains one of the IPL’s most impactful match-winners.
On the other hand, Sunil Narine has redefined the art of mystery spin and has so far bagged 192 wickets in 189 matches at an economy of 6.73, while also scoring 1780 runs in the Indian league. The third spin option is Afghanistan star Rashid Khan, who has been a nightmare for batters with 158 wickets in 136 IPL matches at a stunning economy of just 6.71.
Lasith Malinga to lead Ambati Rayudu's pace attack
No IPL dream team is complete without death-bowling legend Lasith Malinga. The Sri Lankan king of yorkers scalped 170 wickets in 122 matches at an average of 19.79. Alongside Malinga, Ambati picked India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has 183 wickets in 145 matches with an economy of 7.39.
Rayudu picked his former CSK teammate Dwayne Bravo as the impact substitute. Bravo remains IPL’s highest wicket-taker with 183 scalps in 161 matches. He also scored 1,560 runs in the league.
