South Africa batter Donovan Ferreira launched a massive six off Mitchell Owen that sailed out of the ground during the recent Major League Cricket (MLC 2025) clash. Ferreira's jaw-dropping hit came in a rain-curtailed match between Texas Super Kings and Washington Freedom at Lauderhill, Florida.
The Super Kings posted a total of 87/2 - the second-highest ever in a five-over match - on Wednesday, July 2 (local time). Donovan Ferreira smashed an unbeaten 37 off just 9 balls, while Shubham Ranjane added 39* off 14 balls. TSK then defended the target with ease, limiting Washington Freedom to 44/4.

Donovan Ferreira walked to the crease during the fourth over and smashed a six off just his second delivery from Saurabh Netravalkar. Shubham Ranjane then joined the onslaught, hitting the same bowler for two boundaries and a six. Netravalkar leaked 25 runs in his over.
Washington Freedom captain Glenn Maxwell handed the ball to Mitchell Owen for the final over, and Ferreira launched the very first delivery for a massive 106-metre six over deep mid-wicket. The ball sailed out of the stadium, leaving Akeal Hosein in the dugout visibly stunned.
Major League Cricket took to its social media account X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the clip with the caption, "What an incredible hit by Donovan Ferreira! That was almost sent out of the stadium!"

Ferreira then smashed two sixes to complete a hat-trick of maximums. Ferreira and Shubham Ranjane ran hard between the wickets to collect two doubles on the next two deliveries. Ferreira hammered the final ball of the innings over the ropes once again to seal an explosive finish.
The right-handed batter scored 37 off just 9 balls at a staggering strike rate of 411.11. Ferreira and Ranjane added 53 runs in the final 12 balls, helping Texas Super Kings post a mammoth total.
Rachin Ravindra gave Washington Freedom a promising start to their chase with a four and a six. However, Nandre Burger delivered a major blow by dismissing both Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell on consecutive deliveries, putting Freedom on the back foot.
Akeal Hosein's over began with a six but was followed by five consecutive dot balls, including the wicket of Owen. Hosein and Noor Ahmed maintained tight lines with disciplined bowling, as Washington Freedom managed only half the total posted by Texas Super Kings.

With the score at 34/1 at that point, the tactical move to retire Mitchell proved to be a turning point. The decision allowed TSK to accelerate in the final two overs, setting up a strong finish that helped them gain the upper hand against Washington Freedom.
