Chasing a target in cricket is a responsible and challenging task. Especially in ODI and T20Is, the team batting second has to chase the target set by the opposition to claim victory in the match. Batsmen have to score runs at the required rate and also take care of not losing their wickets. Mohammad Azharuddin holds the 7th spot in this list with 30 not-out knocks in successful ODI chases. The former Indian skipper used to bat a lower-order position in the limited-overs format. He was a powerful finisher for India in the 50-over format.

In his career, the right-handed batsman played 334 one-day international matches. He scored 9378 runs in 308 innings at an average of 36.92. He also smashed 7 centuries and 58 half-centuries.  As a skipper, Azharuddin led India to 90 victories in 174 matches. 76 matches ended in defeats, with 2 tied games and 6 matches with no result.

6. Jacques Kallis – 30

Jacques Kallis takes the 6th spot in this list with 30 not-out innings in successful chases in ODIs. The former South African cricketer was one of the best all-rounders in international cricket during his career. The right-handed batsman played many match-winning knocks for South Africa in One-Day Internationals.

The right-handed batsman smashed 11579 runs in 314 innings in the 50-over cricket with an average of 44.36. He also smashed 17 hundreds and 86 fifties. In bowling, the right-arm pacer picked 273 wickets in 283 innings. He had an economy of just 4.84.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the 5th batsman on this list. He has also played 30 not-out knocks while successfully chasing the target in ODIs. He accounts for 43 centuries and 62 half-centuries in the 50-overs format. He has piled up 12,169 runs in 245 innings at an impressive average of 59.07 and a strike rate of 93.17.

As a skipper, Kohli has led India in 95 One-Day International matches so far, winning 65 games and losing 27. 1 match ended in a tie while 2 witnessed no results.

4. Ricky Ponting- 31

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is the 4th batsman on this list. Ponting accounts for 31 not-out knocks in successful ODI chases. The right-handed batsman played 375 matches. In 365 innings, he scored 13,704 runs at an average of 42.04. He also smashed 30 centuries and 82 half-centuries.

Ponting led Australia in 230 One Day International games, winning 165 and losing just 51. There were 2 tied games while 12 matches with no results. He also led Australia to two ODI World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007.

The right-handed batsman played 378 matches in 50-over cricket. He scored 111,379 runs in 350 innings at an average of 39.53. The former Pakistani skipper also smacked 10 centuries and 83 half-centuries. Inzamam led Pakistan in 90 ODIs, winning 52 of them. 34 matches ended in the loss while 4 witnessed no results.

2. Jonty Rhodes- 33

Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes is the 2nd player on this list. He has played not-out knocks on 33 occasions in successful ODI chases. Rhodes is hailed as the best fielder that international cricket has seen. The right-handed batsman played 245 One-Day International matches in which he scored 5935 runs in 220 innings. He had an average of 35.12 and a strike rate of 80.9. He also hit 2 centuries and 33 half-centuries.

Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni has the top spot in this list. With 47 not-out knocks in successful ODI chases, Dhoni is far ahead of the other players on this list. The former Indian skipper is often considered the best finisher in international cricket. The wicket-keeper batsman played 350 matches in 50-overs cricket. In 297 innings, he scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.58.

He smashed 10 centuries and 73 centuries. As a skipper, Dhoni led India in 200 matches, winnings 110 and losing 74. There were 5 tied games while 11 matches with no result. MS Dhoni is the only skipper to win all the three major ICC titles i.e. ODI World Cup (2011), T20I World Cup (2007), and Champions Trophy (2013).
