Suryakumar Yadav’s dry spell continues in the ongoing IPL 2026 season for the Mumbai Indians (MI). Against the Gujarat Titans, the seasoner batter was dismissed for only 15 runs off 11 balls.

The crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium was at their feet when ‘SKY’ launched the ball into the stands for a maximum. Soon after delivering the sixth, the Gujarat Titans (GT) batter was clean bowled by the experienced pacer Kagiso Rabada.

Kagiso Rabada's 152 KMPH delivery bamboozled Suryakumar Yadav

MI lost their third batter in the process when they were on 44 in 5.5 overs. Before the departure of SKY, Mumbai lost their openers, Quinton de Kock and debutant Danish Malewar. The South African pacer, Kagiso Rabada, remains one of the most lethal bowlers in IPL 2026. The delivery, which clocked 152 KMPH, dismantled the stumps of Yadav.

It is a crucial match for the Mumbai Indians as they are currently in 10th place in the 10-team league. Against the Gujarat Titans, MI has considered multiple changes in their playing combination. Rohit Sharma is not in the playing eleven because of the injury he received while batting against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

In place of Rohit Sharma, the MI team management picked Danish Malewar, one of the debutants in the match, as an opener to pair up with the seasoned campaigner Quinton de Kock. On paper, the pair of Danish and Quinton was looking promising. The Protea batter smashed a century in the previous match, against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Naman Dhir played well, but Suryakumar Yadav gifted disappointment again

Against the Gujarat Titans, the openers of MI departed quickly. In the fourth over of the first innings, when Mumbai was on 25, Quinton de Kock was lost after losing the scalp of Danish Malewar in the second over of the match. As the team got reduced early in the match, the responsibility for the recovery work was on the shoulders of Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav.

Dhir made a promising 45-run knock off 32 balls, but Yadav was dismissed for only 15 runs. As soon as he lost his wicket, fans across social media platforms expressed their dissatisfaction over the batter, as he has been struggling with the bat for a long time now.
