Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra slammed the fan armies and made a humble request after they made wild theories about the rivalry between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal following the mix-up in the second Test against the West Indies in Delhi.
A lack of communication between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal cost the Mumbaikar a well-deserved double century, as he was run out for 175 in the ongoing second and final Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

After which, a storm erupted on social media, especially between the fan clubs of both Indian stars. Some claimed that Gill refused to leave the crease for Yashasvi out of jealousy, while some felt the Indian captain wanted to secure his wicket. But many former cricketers blamed Yashasvi for his unfortunate dismissal.

You did the same with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: Aakash Chopra
Chopra stressed that the incident between Shubman and Jaiswal was simply a normal running mistake, nothing personal. The commentator mentioned that both players went to the dressing room, spoke to each other, hugged each other, and cleared any confusion after the mix-up.
Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his social media handle, “What are you doing, guys? You did the same with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. And now we have started the same between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. They are friends; they play on the same team. It was anyone's mistake, whether it was Yashasvi's or Shubman's. But look at this, they went to the dressing room and chatted with each other. It happened after that incident.”

He emphasized that these young stars are still learning the shades of partnership in high-pressure games. Just like Kohli and Rohit, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are building a strong bond both on and off the field. Chopra also mentioned how Yashasvi politely said ‘it happens’ when asked about his run-out.

Chopra urged fans to stop creating unnecessary drama, insisting that Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are friends and teammates, not rivals, and urged them to focus on supporting them rather than spreading false narratives.
Let's write a different story this time: Aakash Chopra
He explained, “But honestly, by doing this, the fan armies that are formed and then the actual war starts; it seems that they are not playing with each other but against each other. No, my friend. Rohit and Kohli used to play together for a team, and they did a great job. They will still do it.”
The cricket pundit signed off by saying, “And this is what these two youngsters are also trying to do. Their story has just started. Let's write a different story. Instead of fan wars and armies, trolls and all of that, let's break that. Let's try and take Indian cricket in the right direction. They are kids; let them play. They are true friends; I am telling you the truth.”
