Multiple former international cricketers have their own YouTube channels, doing podcasts. Former India National Cricket Team opener Aakash Chopra's podcasts are very popular among Indian cricket fans.
In one of his latest YouTube videos, Chopra revealed that there are a few cricketers, including Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Shami, who had refused to sit with him for a video session.
Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Shami rejected Aakash Chopra's podcast invitation
During a video, Aakash Chopra engaged in a question-answer session with some cricket fans. Chopra responded to some of the questions thrown by the fans on the social media platform.
One of the fans asked the former batter whether any of the popular Indian cricketers declined Chopra's offer for a podcast. In response, Chopra claimed that there are some cricketers who either refused to do a video or asked to postpone the shooting date.
Rajat Patidar directly said 'no' to a podcast
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Madhya Pradesh captain Rajat Patidar and the experienced Indian pacer Mohammed Shami are two of them. Chopra did not exactly mention why they did not want to do a video session, but he looked doubtful, as the podcasts or online conversations with Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Shami are uncertain at that point. Rajat Patidar expressed that he had already refused many for videos, so he also declined Aakash Chopra's offer.
"Sir, I have refused many people for the podcast, so I won't be able to do yours either," to which Aakash responded, "It's okay."
The former cricketer-turned-cricket expert further noted that some players had asked to postpone the date of the show, saying, "Aakash bhai, not now, can we do it after a month or two?" Chopra, in his response, stated, "I will wait and watch, and I will keep sending them texts." Mohammed Shami was one of them who urged the former batter to postpone the shooting date.
Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Shami are among those cricketers who are currently not part of the present set-up of the Indian cricket teams across any format, but still, they have a lot of fan followings because of their performance in the Indian Premier League and for the domestic cricket teams.
Aakash Chopra suggests India consider a rotation policy
The selection of the openers for the first eleven of the Indian T20I team is another hot topic in the video. Since the arrival of the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Indian team management is in a dilemma about whom to select and whom to drop from the playing combination of the team.
Vaibhav, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan- all of them are top-order batters. Aakash said that there are four contenders for three spots, so someone will have to be on the bench. As there are a couple of years to go before the next ICC T20 World Cup, the former opener preferred not to state anything in advance; instead, he advised the team management to prefer the rotation policy.
"The question is very good, and this is a problem for everyone. Actually, this trouble has arrived; what to do?" Aakash Chopra replied to a fan.
