“A reliable top-order batsman and occasional off-spinner”- Rajat Patidar is one of the emerging players in Indian cricket. After continuous hard work at the domestic level, Rajat Paditar finally made his international debut in 2023.
Rajat Paditar is a right-handed batsman who plays in the top order. However, he can also play in the middle. He also bowls right-arm off-spin but has usually refrained from bowling and is only an occasional bowler.
Early Life and Career
Rajat Paditar was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on June 1, 1993. His father was a businessman. He started his cricket practice at his grandfather's academy. He has a sister and a brother. Paditar married his girlfriend Gunjan Patidar in 2023.
In 2015, the right-handed batsman was picked by Madhya Pradesh for the Ranji Trophy season. He has been part of the MP team since that time. Patidar got a big break in 2021 when Royal Challengers Bangalore picked him in IPL 2021.
International Career
Rajat Paditar was picked in some international series but did not make his international debut at the start. In December 2023, he finally made his international debut with an ODI series against South Africa. Later, he also made his Test debut in a series against England in 2024.
Notably, Rajat Patidar has only played a handful of games for Team India. His international career has just started and he needs to cement his place in the national team. Paditar has failed to impress on the national team, however, he has received only a limited number of opportunities.
IPL Career
Rajat Paditar was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2021 season. Since that time, he has been part of the same franchise. Paditar is also a crucial member of the team and plays a lot of matches.
If we look at his IPL career, he has been a decent performer. He added just 71 runs in his debut season in 2021. However, the right-handed batsman bounced back with 333 runs in 8 games in 2022.
