Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has taken a dig at Bangladesh following their crushing defeat during the second T20I of the three-match series.

Aakash Chopra said that Bangladesh has been outplayed by the home team not only in the two T20Is but also in the recent two-match Test series.

Team India secured a dominant 86-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20I match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 9.

This was India's biggest victory in T20Is over Bangladesh in terms of runs, surpassing their previous 50-run triumph during the T20 World Cup 2024.

They Have Been Extremely Ordinary - Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra questioned Bangladesh for their lack of competitiveness throughout the series, describing their performance as "extremely ordinary". Chopra pointed out it was India's seventh consecutive home series win in T20Is after a wicket win.

"India won the first match by seven wickets. Seven bowlers were used in this match and all seven bowlers were successful. This was the seventh consecutive win at home in a T20I series. India have won in Gautam Gambhir's new tenure. Bangladesh - do you actually compete? They have been extremely ordinary," Chopra said.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led team scored 221 runs for the loss of nine wickets after being asked to bat first. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer for India, with 74 runs off 34 balls, four boundaries, and seven sixes. Rinku Singh scored 53 runs off 29 balls before restricting Bangladesh to 135/9.

Where have you competed? - Aakash Chopra

The former Indian opener said that he expected a competitive performance from Bangladesh, especially after their recent 2-0 Test series victory in Pakistan. He questioned why they failed to put up a fight in India during the ongoing tour.

"Is Bangladesh even competitive? It's a big, big question. Considering the sort of cricket they have played, it has asked me two questions. Bangladesh are coming after beating Pakistan in Pakistan in Test matches, so it was expected they would compete in India. Where have you competed?" Chopra added.

They Lost The Second Test In Two Days - Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator said that they managed to win only two sessions and lost the second Test in just two days. Chopra emphasized that their performances highlight the declining standings of Bangladesh and Pakistan.

"There they defeated Pakistan in two Test matches. Here they won only two sessions in the Test matches. They lost the second Test in two days. What does it tell us about Bangladesh and what does it tell us about even Pakistan? How seriously should we take that you became a good team after doing well against Pakistan?" Chopra further added.

India won both Test matches against Bangladesh. They triumphed in the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs and followed that up with a win in the second in Kanpur, where they secured a seven-wicket victory. India won the match despite losing more than two and a half days due to rain and a wet outfield.
