Former Australian captain Aaron Finch reckons that Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was one of the toughest bowlers to face during his international career. Aaron Finch admitted that he tried his best for 15 years to overcome the threat posed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swing bowling.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Aaron Finch on seven occasions in international cricket, including four dismissals in ODIs. Kumar was a nightmare for Finch in 2019, dismissing him four times on a trot in the 50-over format. The right-handed batter recorded scores of 6, 6, 14, and a duck.
Tried For 15 Years To Stop – Aaron Finch
During a Q&A session on Twitter, Aaron Finch was asked about his struggles against Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
“Why did Bhuvi trouble you a bit? Could you elaborate? Is it your feet coming across?” a user asked Finch.
“Yep!! Tried for 15 years to stop that happening,” Finch responded with a cheeky reply.
Bhuvneshwar was not in the selectors’ scheme of things, as he last played for India in November of last year. The right-arm pacer recently removed the term ‘cricketer’ from his Instagram bio, hinting that he has concluded his stint with the national team.
Aaron Finch retired from all three formats of international cricket in February of this year. The former Australian opener represented the nation in five Tests, 146 ODIs, and 103 T20Is. He scored 8804 runs across formats, including 19 centuries and 51 half-centuries.
The 36-year-old was the most successful skipper for the Australia National Cricket Team in the shorter format of the game, guiding the team to their first-ever title victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. He led the team to 40 wins out of 70 T20I matches.
