Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers shared his views on the verbal exchange between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head during the second Test of the BGT 2024-25. AB de Villiers said that such on-field exchanges are common in cricket but should stay within respectful limits during the matches.

The confrontation began when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head with a yorker. Head claimed he had said to Siraj, "well bowled." However, Siraj said that the left-handed batter lied in the press conference. On Day 2 of the recent match, the Adelaide crowd supported Head and booed against Siraj.

I Love a Bit of Banter in a Cricket Game - AB de Villiers

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers said that Mohammed Siraj’s send-off to Travis Head, who had scored a match-winning century, is questionable. De Villiers said that Siraj's enthusiasm and excitement drive him to win games of cricket.

"Maybe questionable giving Head a send-off after he scored a match-winning hundred. But that is Siraj for you. His enthusiasm, his excitement, and his drive to win games of cricket," AB de Villiers said.

"I love a bit of banter in a cricket game. What was said out there, I don't really care unless it went over the line. So what is over the line? I think that is personal stuff, religious stuff, racial stuff. Otherwise, I am happy to overlook it," de Villiers added.

It Was a Little Bit of a Misunderstanding - Travis Head

Despite their earlier confrontation, Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj have moved on from the incident. Head revealed that Siraj took the initiative to resolve the matter, calling it a misunderstanding.

The two shared a moment on the field when Siraj came out to bat in India's second innings. Head later took the catch to dismiss Siraj. The issue was seemingly resolved when they hugged after the match.

"He's come out then and said it was a little bit of a misunderstanding. I think we will move on, we've had a great week, so let's not ruin it. I'm sweet, and I think he's the same, and we move on," Head told ABC Sports.

The Australian bowlers dominated in the Adelaide Test, with Mitchell Starc taking 6-48 in the first innings, including the scalps of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli, who scored centuries in the last match. Pat Cummins registered 5-57 in India's second innings, helping Australia bowl them out for 175.
