'Patient, Pleasant, Powerful'- Pat Cummins can be truly described by these words by the vibes he carries around the field. Pat Cummins is the current Australia captain in Tests and ODIs. Since 2011, he has been a regular member of the side across all three formats.

Pat Cummins is a right-arm pacer. He is also a fabulous lower-order batsman, who can clear the ropes with his might. After winning the ICC World Test Championship and ICC ODI World Cup 2023, he has earned a lot of accolades with his captaincy too.

Early Life and Career 

Pat Cummins was born on May 8, 1993, in Australia to Peter and late Maria Cummins. He grew up with his four siblings- brothers Matt and Tim and sisters Laura and Kara. In 2017, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.

In August 2022, the Aussie skipper tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Becky Boston. They have a son named Albie. In 2023, his mother Maria Cummins died with a prolonged illness.

Cummins gained a lot of limelight when he won the Player of the Match award in the Big Bash League 2010-11, for his 4/16 in the final. In the same year, he made his international debut in a Test series against South Africa.  

International Career

In his debut series against South Africa, Pat Cummins executed a powerful pace attack. He finished as the leading wicket-taker for Australia in Test series (7) and T20I series (5). He also finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ODI series (5), sharing the feat with Xavier Doherty and Mitchell Johnson.

Within a few years, Pat Cummins became a crucial member of the Australian side. He was part of the Australia team that won the ODI World Cup 2015. Picking 5 wickets in 2 ODI games at 6.07, he was quite impressive with his stint.

The year 2017 was a stunning season for the Cummins, who grabbed a total of 47 international wickets. He followed it up with fifty-plus wickets in the 2018 (52) and 2019 (92) season.

As a result, he became a crucial member of the Aussie pace attack- which was led by the trio of Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. In 2019, Cummins became the vice-captain for Tests. In the same year, he won the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year.

IPL and BBL Career

In IPL, Pat Cummins started his career in the 2015 season, when he was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders. The right-arm pacer stayed with the team till 2015. He joined Delhi Darevils in the 2017 season and returned to KKR from 2020 to 2022.

In IPL 2023, mega auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for Rs. 20.50 crores, making him the second-costliest player ever in IPL history.

In 2010, Cummins was part of the New South Wales team in his debut season. He later played for Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers, and Sydney Thunder. He later moved to his home franchise New South Wales.

In the last few years, Pat Cummins has emerged as a dominant skipper in international cricket. He led Australia to the WTC title and ODI WC title in 2023, showcasing his immense talent in leadership.
