"Ab Rok Ke Dikhao Koi:"- Riyan Parag Issues Warning After Dhruv Jurel's Selection In Team India
The BCCI has announced a 16-member squad for the first two Tests of the five-match Test series against England which commences on January 25 with the first Test to be played on January 25. Dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper-batter who represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket and plays for Rajasthan Royals has been included in the squad for the first time. His RR teammate Riyan Parag’s tweet about Dhruv Jurel getting his maiden India call-up is going viral.
The 22-year-old right-handed batter caught a lot of eye with his performances in the IPL 2023. He maintained his IPL form and translated it to the Ranji trophy as he scored 63 in the first match for Uttar Pradesh against Kerela. He was preferred over Ishan Kishan in the Indian team, and after his name was included in the list, the Rajasthan Royals tweeted a picture of him wearing a Test match kit.
Riyan Parag posted a heartwarming tweet for his RR teammate, which is now going viral on the internet. The Assam cricketer who scored the second-fastest century in Ranji Trophy history earlier this week during his team’s season opener against Chhattisgarh tweeted, “Mera ladka ban gaya INDIA ab rok ke dikhao koi @dhruvjurel21.”

Dhruv Jurel is currently playing in the two-day practice match for India A against the England Lions at Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. He has amassed 790 runs in 15 first-class matches played so far boasting an average of 46.47 and has completed 34 catches. He has smashed five half-centuries and a century in first-class cricket and has also scored two consecutive half-centuries in first-class cricket. However, the chances of him making a Test debut in this series look meek.
Despite being named in the squad, it is highly unlikely that Dhruv Jurel will get a chance in the Playing XI of any of the first two Tests against England. India has included KL Rahul and KS Bharat in the squad as wicketkeeper-batters which means that Dhruv Jurel is going as the third-choice wicketkeeper in the series as KL Rahul and KS Bharat are much higher up than him in the pecking order.
India will play five Tests against England and the first Test will be played in Hyderabad starting from January 25. The other four venues for the series are Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala. India has been unbeaten in the home Test series since 2012 when they were defeated by England at home. The English team will hope to recreate the history by defeating India again but the Indian team is looking formidable and won’t be easy to beat in the spin-friendly conditions at home.
India’s squad for the first two Tests against England: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (W), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.
