Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill launched BrahMos on Sahibzada Farhan, Haris Rauf: Pakistan star’s KILLER verdict

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria slammed Pakistan’s performance after their six-wicket loss to India in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash at Dubai. Kaneria hailed India’s young openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma for a destructive counterattack that left Pakistan bewildered.

Abhishek Sharma smashed a blazing 74 off 39 balls, while Shubman Gill added 47 off 28, setting the platform for India’s comfortable chase. Kaneria called the Indian openers’ effort a “maha dhulai” and said that even a 200-run total looked small against Gill and Abhishek.

Apart from the fireworks from Gill and Abhishek, the Super Four match between India and Pakistan has also seen fiery verbal spats. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi tried to get under the Indian openers’ skin and got a strong counterattack from them in Dubai.

Additionally, Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his half-century with a gun-style gesture, while Haris Rauf’s “6-0” and “Rafale” gestures sparked major controversy. And Kaneria joked how Sahibzada’s AK-47 celebration backfired as Gill and Abhishek responded with a Rafale-like counterattack and won the game for the Men in Blue.

Danish Kaneria was quoted as saying by IANS: “Sahibzada Farhan signalled an AK-47, but then Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma launched a BrahMos of their own with the bat—and Sharma even followed it with a flying kiss. That’s how you do it.

The Indian openers’ counterattack was so destructive that the Pakistan players were left bamboozled. There’s ‘dhulai,’ and then there’s ‘maha dhulai.’ This was the latter. When you have players like Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill as openers, even 200 can look like a small total against them on such a wicket. Both are class players.”

Pakistan looks for another scapegoat!!

Meanwhile, Pakistan tried a tactical change in the Super Four clash against India, promoting Fakhar Zaman to open alongside Sahibzada Farhan. Zaman started promisingly with three boundaries but fell for 15 to Hardik Pandya, caught behind by Sanju Samson at Dubai.

The TV umpire confirmed the catch was clean, but the Pakistan camp was not convinced. However, Kaneria dismissed Pakistan’s complaints and said that they are just trying to find excuses for their defeat, which was their second loss to India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

Kaneria signed off by saying, “Now Pakistan will look for another scapegoat, and they’ve found one in Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal. He’ll cry now, saying he wasn’t out. But it was a clear and clean catch by Sanju Samson—the gloves were clearly underneath the ball. And yet Pakistan will surely cry over it, talking about ‘benefit of doubt.’ Fakhar will cling to this excuse.”

Aakash Chopra mocks Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf’s controversial celebrations

Recently, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra slammed Shahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf for their on-field antics in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s clash. Chopra made fun of Farhan’s strike rate of 129 and reminded him how he couldn’t even score a run-a-ball in the last match against India.

He also recalled how Virat Kohli made a mockery of Rauf at the MCG. Chopra said in a video, X: “Now the strike rate is just 129. The world is flying, Rafael, and you’re flying a kite and celebrating. Harris’ plane takes off and falls. Everyone asked in Melbourne, "Is that a bird or a plane?" Then that plane landed. Where? Near the sight screen as Kohli hit that brilliant shot. You must remember!”
