Abhishek Sharma set the IPL 2025 on fire with a jaw-dropping performance that left even legends like Virender Sehwag stunned. The young Sunrisers Hyderabad opener turned a tough chase into a one-man show, smashing the Punjab Kings bowlers to every corner of the ground.

Abhishek Sharma played a record-breaking knock of 141 runs off 55 balls laced with 14 boundaries and 10 sixes to help Sunrisers Hyderabad chase down 246 runs inside 19 overs against the Punjab Kings in the 27th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 in Hyderabad on Saturday, April 12.

The left-handed batter also stitched a 171-run partnership with Travis Head, who made 66 runs off 37 balls against the Punjab Kings. Abhishek also added 51 runs with Heinrich Klaasen (21 runs off 14 balls) to help SRH revive their campaign in the ongoing IPL 2025.

While comparisons with Travis Head came up, Sehwag said that Abhishek took things to another level, saying the SRH opener’s knock wasn’t just big, but it was also fearless, clean, and packed with monstrous sixes in every direction. He felt Abhishek was too good against the PBKS.

The former Indian opener was in awe of Abhishek the way he smashed sixes from cover drives to deep mid-wicket against the Punjab Kings. It was a comeback victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad after losing four games in a row in the ongoing IPL 2025.

So, he batted amazingly; he hit shots in all directions. He deals mostly in the sixes. The shots that he hit on the covers, on the point, on the flake, or in front, those were spectacular shots.”

It was unbelievable. No one had thought that the chase would be done so easily in just 18.3 balls. And Abhishek’s batting, I mean, he hit all around. Luck was on his side today. But the way he smacked the bowler after luck favored him, I mean, it was not easy. It was like watching the highlights.”
