Abrar Ahmed challenges Varun Chakravarthy for No.1 spot after skyrocketing in ICC T20I Rankings

Continuing his spectacular stint in the UAE, Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has seen another major high in his career as he makes consecutive leaps to near the pole position in the ICC Men's T20I bowler Rankings. Abrar is now in the fourth position and is a strong opponent of the current no. 1 bowler, Varun Chakravarthy.
Pakistan might not have won several matches in recent times, but they are working hard to change their fate. However, some players have outclassed many, and one among them is Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed, who has been a special performer for them.
The bowler has shown some great form for Pakistan in the UAE. He went on to pick several crucial wickets but has been economical in most instances. In their last game against Sri Lanka, Abrar Ahmed gave away just 8 runs, while he also picked the big wicket of Wanindu Hasaranga.
Abrar Ahmed jumps 12 spots in ICC Rankings, poses a challenge to Varun Chakravarthy
Continuing his spectacular form for Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has relished another fruitful week in the ICC Men's T20I Bowling Rankings charts.
The player made a huge rise last week as he jumped 11 places to reach the 16th spot on the rankings list. However, adding to his brilliance, he has jumped a further 12 spots and is now within a gettable range of the pole position.
He has currently risen to the 4th position with 703 rating points. Abrar attained this rise after an action-packed week where he finished with the figures of 1/42 against India and 1/8 against Sri Lanka.
Currently, the Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy is the no. 1-ranked bowler by the ICC; he did not have a very impressive week so far, with a wicketless game against Pakistan. However, his economical finish ended with a 14-point gain that consolidated his place at the top.
Mustafizur Rahman is also back in the Top 10 of the ICC rankings
After a temporary dip in form, which led him to lose four positions in the last week, experienced Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman is back into the top 10, courtesy of a 6-place jump.
The left-arm pacer has now nabbed six wickets at an average of eight in the last two innings he played for the Bengal Tigers. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf also rose 9 places up to the 28th position, while Hardik Pandya, the veteran all-rounder, went six places up to the 60th rank.
Abhishek Sharma retains the top spot in ICC rankings with commanding Asia Cup form
Rising Indian talent Abhishek Sharma has gained the status of India's current most dynamic opening batter. The batsman has scored the most runs for India in the Asia Cup 2025. The batter is currently ranked no. 1 as per ICC rankings, and he has further consolidated his hold on the position.
He hit a quick-fire 38 against Oman and then anchored the Indian innings during their captivating chase against Pakistan in their first Super-4 match. His Indian teammate Tilak Varma has also risen to a new position of no. 3 after having played the finishing role against Pakistan.
Shahibzada Farhan rose 31 spots to 24th place, while Hussain Talat made an astronomical jump of 1474 spots to become the 234th-placed in the Men's T20I rankings. Hardik Pandya continues to lead the all-rounder rankings; Wanindu Hasaranga has also gained a place to take seventh place in the rankings.
