Former cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi following the match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Asia Cup 2025. Zaman accused Naqvi of corruption for supplying players with substandard kits during the eight-team tournament.
There had been off-field controversies ahead of Pakistan’s match against the UAE. The Mohsin Naqvi-LED PCB wanted match referee Andy Pycroft removed from Pakistan’s games, which led to delaying the match by an hour. However, the ICC retained him, and Pakistan secured their place in the Super Four stage with the win.
Corruption Dripping More Than the Sweat - Atiq-uz-Zaman Slams Mohsin Naqvi
Atiq-uz-Zaman criticized the Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board for supplying poor-quality kits to the national team during the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE.
Zaman took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to state that players were struggling in sweat-soaked, low-quality jerseys.
The former cricketer also mentioned that other teams received proper dry-fit kits and blamed the issue on tenders being awarded to friends instead of professionals.
"Pakistan players sweating through low-quality kits while others wear proper dry-fits. This is what happens when tenders go to friends, not professionals. Corruption dripping more than the sweat," wrote Zaman.
Fans stated they had also noticed Pakistan’s substandard kits. The PCB website does not list any official kit sponsor for the national team, though other sponsors like Pepsi, TCL, and Parkview City are mentioned.
Pakistan Book Place In Super Four Stage Of Asia Cup 2025
Pakistan secured a 41-run victory over the UAE on Wednesday to book their place in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Green will face India again in the Super Four stage. India had already qualified following their wins over Pakistan and the UAE.
The match was delayed by over an hour due to PCB’s dispute over match referee Andy Pycroft, who later issued an apology before play began. Pakistan struggled early but posted a total of 146/9 with crucial contributions from Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Afridi.
In response, the UAE lost three early wickets, but Ravi Chopra and Dhruv Parashar added a 48-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The UAE were bowled out for 105 runs in 17.4 overs. Shaheen Afridi was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
What Has Happened in the last IND vs PAK game?
India dismissed Pakistan for just 127 runs during the Asia Cup 2025 match. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue. The chase was wrapped up comfortably with contributions from Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma.
However, the match was overshadowed by controversy. At the toss, Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha avoided the customary handshake. India also refused to shake hands with their opponents after the win. They closed their dressing room door.
Suryakumar later dedicated the win to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Mohsin Naqvi's PCB escalated the matter, demanding Pycroft’s removal from the tournament.
Their participation was in doubt until Pycroft issued an apology to captain Salman Agha and coach Mike Hesson in the presence of ICC official Wasim Khan.
