Legendary England National Cricket Team batsman Kevin Pietersen has lashed out at Ben Stokes & Co. following defeat in the first two Tests of the ongoing Ashes 2023 at Edgbaston and Lord’s.

The Aussies won the thrilling first Test match by 2 wickets while chasing the target of 281 runs. In the second Test, meanwhile, Pat Cummins & Co. won by 43 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The next Test is set to be played from July 06 to 10 at the Headingley in Leeds. The match will be very crucial for the Three Lions, who will be aiming to avoid the series defeat at home.

In his column for Betway, Kevin Pietersen highlighted that the English players have been giving bold statements but they are not able to back those statements with their performance. He feels that Team England are acting like they are “the greatest team around” but the series scoreline tells a different story.

“If you’re going to talk the talk, you have to walk the walk, and this England cricket team isn’t walking the walk. They’re acting like they’re the greatest team around, but they’re currently on course to be the first England team to lose at home to Australia since 2001,” Kevin Pietersen stated.

After the first Test match, Ollie Robinson said that they felt like they won the game – Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen even highlighted some of the bold statements given by James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and Zak Crawley. He asserted:

“After the first Test match, Ollie Robinson said that they felt like they won the game, Jimmy Anderson was complaining that the wicket was like kryptonite, and then you’ve got Zak Crawley saying they’re going to win the next one by 150 runs.

“Leading into Headingley, all of this needs to stop. The pressure that they’re putting themselves under by speaking that way and using that language is unnecessary. It’s not helping in any way, shape, or form.”

Kevin Pietersen further said that Team Australia are a ruthless side and they absolutely dominate once they are given the chance. He feels that, unlike Australia, England are just too relaxed.

“When they get their foot on the throat, they will absolutely push and push and push to destroy you. That’s how they play this sport. They have that mongrel in them. I don’t see the mongrel in the England cricket team.

“There’s so much relaxed talk. It’s like, ‘Hey, this is the coolest environment, we’re having the best time ever.’ Unfortunately, all that matters is winning,” Kevin Pietersen said.
