Adelaide Test sets record as shortest India-Australia match in cricket history

Australia, led by Pat Cummins, was expected to bounce back in the Adelaide day-night Test after a heavy loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth. The hosts outplayed India to secure a 10-wicket victory in the Adelaide Test, which became the shortest-ever Test match between the two teams.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first at the Adelaide Oval. However, it was the only positive thing for the visiting team in the match. They were bowled out for 180 runs on the opening day. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, taking six wickets for 48 runs.

Australia took a significant 157-run lead after finishing their first innings at 337. Middle-order batter Travis Head smashed a brilliant hundred against the Indian bowling attack. Head scored 140 runs off 141 balls, including 17 fours and four sixes. The Indian team dropped multiple catches during Head's knock.
India struggled to make a comeback in their second innings. They were bowled out for just 175 early on Day 3. Australia easily chased down the 19-run target without losing a wicket, leveling the series 1-1. Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his match-defining knock in Australia’s first innings.
Adelaide Test Becomes Shortest Ever Between India and Australia in History
The Adelaide Test match, which lasted only 1,031 deliveries, became the shortest completed Test between India and Australia in their history. Overall, it is also the fourth shortest completed Test in Australia. The Test between Australia and South Africa in Melbourne in 1932 lasted just 656 deliveries.
