AFG vs PAK: Rahmanullah Gurbaz Surpasses Babar Azam And Shikhar Dhawan In A Massive ODI Feat

Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz surpassed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and India batter Shikhar Dhawan in a massive feat in ODIs. The opening batter became the third-fastest batter to smash 5 tons in the 50-over format.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz achieved the feat in the ongoing second ODI against Pakistan. The keeper-batter has displayed a staggering performance in the ongoing game and has put his team in a dominating position, especially after their debacle in the last game. 

Rahmanullah Gurbaz looked cautious at the start and once he was in, he played some fantastic shots. The opening batter made Pakistan’s bowling attack look clueless and frustrated them. He played quite maturely and brought up his fifth ODI ton in his career.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz with his century became the first batter from Afghanistan to score a ton against Pakistan in ODIs. He slammed his fifth hundred in just 23 innings, surpassing Babar Azam (25) and Shikhar Dhawan (28).

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was still batting at the time of writing this piece. He was at unbeaten 151 runs off 150 balls along with 14 fours and 3 sixes. He also stitched 227 runs partnership with Ibrahim Zadran (80) and with the way he’s batting he looks set for a big score.

South Africa batter Quinton de Kock and Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq are the batters who are the fastest to 5 ODI centuries. They are followed by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Babar Azam. Apart from these, former Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga is also in the list as he has achieved the feat in 28 innings along with Shikhar Dhawan, who has taken the same number of innings. Hashim Amla also features in the list.
