Memory might not be the strongest attribute of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam as he made a hilarious blunder just before the ongoing third ODI against Afghanistan in Colombo.
The incident took place during the toss. The Pakistan captain won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final match of the three-ODI series. During the toss, he was asked about any changes in the playing eleven and Babar Azam ended up making a hilarious mistake.
He announced that Pakistan have made four changes to their playing eleven. The Men in Green included Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Mohammad Nawaz, and Faheem Ashraf in their playing eleven. The players who made way in the playing eleven were Usama Mir, Iftikhar Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.
Talking about the mistake, Babar Azam surprised everyone by saying that Saud Shakeel would make his debut in the game. While Saud Shakeel is still new to ODI cricket, the ongoing game is definitely not his first. What makes the blunder even more hilarious is the fact that he had received his maiden ODI cap two years ago from none other than Babar Azam in 2021.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan eye whitewash:
Meanwhile, Babar Azam & Co. have already sealed the three-match series by winning the first two games and will be looking to inflict a whitewash on Afghanistan. Pakistan thrashed the Afghan team by 142 runs in the first ODI before registering a thrilling 1-wicket win in the second game.
The second ODI was also marred by a big controversy as Fazalhaq Farooqi had run out Shadab Khan at the non-striker’s end in the final over after the latter left his crease early. After the game ended, Babar Azam looked very angry and was seen having an animated discussion with the opposition players.
Apart from the whitewash, Pakistan will also be looking to maintain their hundred percent winning record against Afghanistan. They are yet to lose an ODI against Afghanistan. A win in the ongoing game will also see Pakistan reclaim the top spot in the ICC Rankings.
