The part for Australian player’s participation in the upcoming second phase of the 14th Indian Premier League has been cleared with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Cricket Australia (CA) postponing the three-match ODI series between the two nations.
Afghanistan and Australia were scheduled to lock horns in a three-match One-day International series in India ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
But with T20 World Cup moved to the United Arab Emirates and Oman due to the Covid-19 situation in India and several logistic issues, both Afghanistan and Australia boards have decided to postpone the rubber.
“The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Cricket Australia agreed to postpone the tour given the complexities of travel, quarantine periods and finding a suitable location for the matches given the relocation of the Twenty20 World Cup to the United Arab Emirates and Oman,” the boards said in a statement.

The statement further added that Afghanistan Cricket Board is considering the possibility to hosts a T20I tri-series against Australia and defending champions West Indies in the Emirates nation.
“With the World Cup relocated from India to the United Arab Emirates and Oman, the ACB will continue to explore the possibility of hosting a proposed T20 tri-series involving Australia and the West Indies.” the statement added.
