Afghanistan Playing XI vs Bangladesh- 1st ODI, Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 2025:

Openers: Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk)

The Afghans would like to end the string of losses that the team is currently going through against Bangladesh, albeit in a different format, by winning the first of three ODI matches against them.

Afghanistan is expected to open the batting with the pair of wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, both of whom are quite experienced batters as far as the batting lineup is concerned.

The duo has been an integral part of Afghanistan in white ball cricket and more so in ODI cricket with the kind of starts they have been able to provide, especially in the last couple of years.

The team management would want them to keep up the good work and make a significant contribution individually as well, given that they have been in decent form and would want to build on it in the first outing against Bangladesh

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan

The opening duo will be followed by a middle order that bats deep, preferably till number eight, with T20I captain Rashid Khan coming in at that particular position.

Although the hosts bat till number nine, that depth hasn't been of great use to them, as the top and middle order haven't been able to provide a platform for the lower order batters to capitalize on.

Afghan management would want the batters to put on a much-improved performance than how they batted in the recently concluded T20I series against the same opposition.

Afghanistan might look to bat first after winning the toss and post 270-280 runs on the board, as the team has the resources to defend it.

The onus will be on the top five batters to score the majority of the team's runs and help them get to an above-par total while batting first, or lay a solid platform for the lower middle order batters to capitalize on and finish the match.

Bowlers: Nangeyalia Kharote, AM Ghazanfar, Abdullah Ahmadzai

Afghans will once again rely on their spinners come the first ODI against Bangladesh at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

The Afghans are expected to go into the match with as many as four specialist spinners as the conditions are expected to be on the drier side, with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi being the two experienced spinners in the playing XI.

Rashid and Nabi would be supported by young spinners Ghazanfar and Kharote, with the team's fast bowling department being handled by Abdullah Ahmadzai and Azmatullah Omarzai.

The only thing that the Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi would be concerned about would be the amount of dew that would affect the game in the second innings if they end up bowling second.
