Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that they will play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 at UAE in October despite all the turmoil going place in the country. The country has been under a lot of crisis at the moment with the Taliban taking over the rule and the government has collapsed.
The president has left for Tajikistan when all this happened and the condition of the country is not good now. The Kabul Airport has been crowded with refugees looking to return to their country and it is going to be a tough time for the people out there. One of the positive news still will be the participation of Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan Looking For A Venue For The Tri-Series
Hikmat Hassan confirmed that Afghanistan will be participating in the T20 World cup as scheduled and the training will start in few days at Kabul, the capital of the country. He added that the Tri-Series against Australia and West Indies is also on and the venue is yet to be decided. He suggested Sri Lanka and Malaysia, being some of the available venues at the moment.
“Yes, we will play in the T20 World Cup. The preparations are on and the available players will be back to training in Kabul in the next few days. We are looking for a venue for the tri-series involving Australia and West Indies and that will be the best preparation for the showpiece event.
“We are speaking to some countries like Sri Lanka and also I think Malaysia. Let’s see how that pans out,” Afghanistan cricket team’s media manager Hikmat Hassan told to ANI.

Afghanistan To Go Ahead With Domestic T20 Tournament
Afghanistan will play the Pakistan side for a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka after UAE was set to host the remaining IPL. Hambantota will be the venue for the series and Hikmat added that the board is looking to conduct the domestic T20 tournament as well to prepare for the T20 World cup.
“We are already set to play Pakistan in Hambantota and that series is also on. Also, we are planning to go ahead with the domestic T20 tournament which shall boost preparations for the players ahead of the T20 World Cup,” He added

Afghanistan is placed in Group B of the T20 World Cup alongside India, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
