Afghanistan will begin their World Cup 2027 campaign against Pakistan in Tshwane on October 8 before meeting Zimbabwe, India, Australia and Qualifier A. Their five Group Stage fixtures will take them through Tshwane, Bulawayo, KuGompo City and Harare.
Afghanistan are in Group A alongside India, Australia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A. Unlike the pre-seeded Super 7 teams, Afghanistan do not currently have a designated Super 7 position, so their potential fixtures after the Group Stage will depend on which seeded place they inherit if they qualify.
Afghanistan’s World Cup 2027 Fixtures and Match Dates
Afghanistan's first match will be against Pakistan in Tshwane on October 8. They then travel to Bulawayo to face Zimbabwe on October 11.
India await Afghanistan in Tshwane on October 14. Their fourth fixture is against Australia in KuGompo City on October 18, followed by Qualifier A in KuGompo City on October 21.
Afghanistan’s Group Stage fixtures:
- October 8: Pakistan vs Afghanistan, Tshwane
- October 11: Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan, Bulawayo
- October 14: India vs Afghanistan, Tshwane
- October 18: Australia vs Afghanistan, KuGompo City

The India match gives Afghanistan an early opportunity to face one of the teams already pre-seeded as A1 for the Super 7.
Afghanistan’s Opponents and Venues in the Group Stage
Afghanistan's schedule starts with Pakistan and India, two of the established Group A sides. The Zimbabwe fixture will be their only Group Stage match in Bulawayo.
They then have consecutive matches in KuGompo City against Australia and Qualifier A. The final fixture on October 21 comes three days before the Group Stage ends.
The top three Group A teams and the better fourth-placed side across both groups will progress to the Super 7.
Afghanistan’s Possible Route Through the 2027 World Cup
Afghanistan have not been assigned a fixed Super 7 seed. The ICC has pre-seeded India as A1, Australia as A2, Pakistan as A3, England as AB4, New Zealand as B1, South Africa as B2 and Sri Lanka as B3.
If Afghanistan qualify for the Super 7 while one of those pre-seeded teams does not, Afghanistan would assume that team's allocated position. That means their Super 7 dates and opponents would follow the position they inherit rather than a separate Afghanistan-specific schedule.
The Super 7 runs from October 25 to November 14. Each team plays six matches, with the top four moving into the November 17 and 18 semi-finals. The final is scheduled for November 21 in Johannesburg.
