England star Chris Woakes has revealed his pick for the best fast-bowler in the world at present. At present, the game is blessed with a number of world-class fast-bowlers. Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Shaheen Afridi, Mitchell Starc, Haris Rauf are some of the leading pacers in the world at present.

And when Chris Woakes was asked to pick the best, he snubbed the likes of Afridi, Cummins and Rauf as well as any of his own teammates such as Mark Wood to pick India star Jasprit Bumrah. Chris Woakes heaped praise on the India pace spearhead and stated that he is the number one fast-bowler across the world. The England allrounder also highlighted some of Bumrah’s impressive skillset.

“Jasprit Bumrah is the No.1 I think, probably across all formats. He’s pretty sensational with what he does and he’s unique, right? His action is very different to anyone else and he’s got high pace, a gun slower ball, a yorker on tap – everything you need as a white-ball bowler,” Woakes told Wisden Cricket Monthly.

Jasprit Bumrah recently returned to action after being sidelined with a back injury for almost a year. He returned to action in the T20I series against Ireland last month and hit the ground running. Earlier this month, he impressed in the Asia Cup too and helped India lift the trophy.

Chris Woakes eyes World Cup success:

Talking about Chris Woakes, the all-rounder will arrive in India soon for the upcoming ODI World Cup. He was a member of the England team that won the previous edition of the World Cup in 2019. The allrounder had played a key role in the historic triumph for England, scoring 134 runs in addition to picking up 16 wickets for his side.

He recently played against New Zealand and picked up three wickets in the third ODI. Before that, Chris Woakes had impressed in the Ashes too. He is likely to play a key role for his side once again in the World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19. Reigning champions England will be in action on the very first day when they take on New Zealand in the tournament-opener in Ahmedabad.
