Agartala Hospital issues fresh update on Mayank Agarwal's health condition

Mayank Agarwal is currently hospitalized at ILS Hospital in Agartala, having fallen ill just before his scheduled flight to New Delhi. The hospital released a statement stating that Mayank Agarwal is in a stable condition after being admitted on January 30.
Mayank was en route to the next fixture against Saurashtra after playing a Ranji Trophy match against Tripura. He scored 51 and 17 runs to help Karnataka register a narrow 28-run victory. The Karnataka team climbed to the second spot in Group C, behind Tamil Nadu.
Mayank Agarwal Is Clinically Stable – ILS Hospital
According to a press release from ILS Hospital, Mayank Agarwal was admitted after experiencing oral irritation and swelling on his lips. The statement highlighted that Mayank is currently clinically stable and under continuous monitoring by the hospital’s consultants.
“This evening, cricketer Mr. Mayank Agarwal was transported from the MBB Airport Agartala to ILS Hospitals Agartala. He was experiencing some oral irritation and swelling on his lips. After being assessed by the consultants of the hospital in an emergency, he was admitted. For now, he’s clinically stable and is being constantly clinically monitored,” said ILS Hospital in their statement.

The exact cause behind the issue for Mayank remains unknown, as law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. It happened as the team was gearing up to travel to Rajkot for an upcoming match against Saurashtra.
Agarwal started the Ranji Trophy season with consecutive ducks against Punjab. However, the batter delivered remarkable performances in the subsequent matches, including centuries against Goa and Gujarat in the ongoing domestic red-ball tournament.
Mayank Agarwal Last Played For India In 2022
Mayank Agarwal last played for India in the day-night Test against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in March 2022. The batter lost his place in the test team following a series of low scores. He went down the pecking order as an opener for India.
The 32-year-old has represented the Indian team in 21 Test matches and five ODIs, scoring 1,488 and 86 runs in the respective formats. He has an average of 41.33 in Test cricket, with a highest score of 243. He smashed four centuries and six half-centuries in his career.
Agarwal received the Madhavrao Scindia Award for emerging as the top run-scorer in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season during the recent BCCI Awards 2024 in Hyderabad. He amassed an impressive tally of 990 runs, featuring three centuries during the season.
In his first-class cricket career, the right-handed batter has participated in 98 matches, scoring an impressive total of 7,430 runs at an average of 45.86. He has notched up 17 centuries and secured 40 half-centuries in red-ball cricket.
