Agni Chopra smacks 4 consecutive tons; Filmmaker’s son bags fabulous feat in First-Class cricket

Like his father Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films, cricketer Agni Chopra has made a fascinating debut in First-Class Cricket. The left-handed batter has grabbed an astonishing feat in First-Class Cricket after his debut. Agni Chopra has smacked 4 tons in his first four games in Ranji Trophy 2024.

Angi Chopra played for Mumbai in Under-19 and Under-23 teams earlier. However, he moved to the Mizoram team for the 2024 domestic season. The 25-year-old has achieved a marvelous record after making his debut in Ranji Trophy 2024.

Agni Chopra smacks 4 tons in first four games in Ranji Trophy 2024

The left-handed batter Angi Chopra has slammed four centuries in his first four games of Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He registered knocks of 166, 92, 164, 15, 114, 10, 105, and 101 in the 8 innings across 4 games. Hence, he shattered a century in each match.

After 4 games, he is the leading run-getter in the tournament with 767 runs. He owns a stunning average of 95.0 and a strike rate of 111+. Speaking to PTI about his transfer to the Mizoram team, Agni Chopra said everyone was welcoming to him.

“Coming here in Mizoram, everyone has been very welcoming and really included me and there are two more pros — KC bhai (KC Cariappa) and Mohit Jangra. They are inclusive and welcoming and I never felt like an outsider. I have been taught a few Mizo words and phrases and I don’t feel in a vastly different place,” the young batter said.

My aim is to take Mizoram to Elite division: Agni Chopra

However, Mizoram is part of the Plate group in Ranji Trophy 2024, unlike the other 32 teams who are in Elite Groups. Agni Chopra wants to lead Mizoram in Plate group final so that they can qualify for Elite Group next season.

“I think I am trying to be in present and my aim is to take Mizoram to Elite division. If we are in Elite division, then there is nothing to think about in terms of quality of bowling and I will play for Mizoram,” he further said.

Mizoram will face Hyderabad in their next match of the Ranji Trophy

Mizoram is part of the Plate Group in Ranji Trophy 2024 along with 5 other teams namely- Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. 32 other teams in the league are part of Elite Groups A, B, C, and D.

Mizoram lost their opening game to Sikkim by 4 wickets. Their next clash against Nagaland ended in a draw. Later, they crushed Arunachal Pradesh by 8 wickets and Meghalaya by 191 runs. Mizoram will now face table-toppers Hyderabad in their next encounter on Friday, February 2.

Meanwhile, Agni Chopra’s father Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a well-known filmmaker. He has made popular Bollywood films like 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and Ferrari Ki Sawaari. Recently, Chopra’s film 12th Fail grabbed a lot of appreciation among viewers.
