Virat Kohli has been very busy since his return to India with the T20 World Cup-winning squad. He along with all the members of the Indian team have had a gala time.

Team India landed in New Delhi in the early hours of Thursday. After that, they met the Primer Minister at his residence in the morning. In the afternoon they left for Mumbai and landed in the evening.

The players had a grand parade from Nariman Point across Marine Drive to the Wankhede stadium. All the players were felicitated by the BCCI in the presence of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and President Roger Binny.

Virat Kohli also had a special interaction with PM Narendra Modi and opened up on his emotions about how he was out of form throughout the tournament and what led to his match-winning knock in the final. He also thanked the PM for inviting the Indian players after their World Cup win.

"Thank you very much for calling us all here and this day will always remain in my mind because in this entire tournament, I was not able to make the contribution that I wanted to and at one time I also told Rahul bhai that I have not given justice to both myself and the team till now. So he told me that when the situation comes, I am sure that you will come into form" said Kohli.

In the same conversation, he then opened up on the conversation that he had with Rohit Sharma when the two of them opened the batting for India in the final.

"So this conversation happened between us and when we went to play, I told Rohit, I did not have that much confidence that I would be able to bat the way I wanted to. So when we went to play, I got 3 fours in the first 4 balls, so I went and told him, what kind of a game is this, one day it seems that not even a single run will be scored and then another day comes and everything starts happening" Kohli concluded saying.

Virat Kohli also honestly admitted that his ego had taken over and he had to keep it aside to move forward.

“I realised when you feel you can do anything, your ego takes over and the game pulls away from you. I had to keep my ego aside. The situation was such that I had to keep my pride aside for team. When you respect the game, it respects you. So that’s what I experienced," he said.

Before his knock in the final, Virat Kohli had just scored 75 runs across seven innings as he averaged just over 10. However, his knock of 76 in the final helped India post a competitive score of 176 which was the highest score posted ever in a T20 World Cup final. He was chosen as the Man of the Match for his knock in the final.

South Africa were up for a record chase in the final. At one point they were well in the game. However, Hardik Pandya's dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen turned the game back in India's favor. Bumrah further sealed it with the dismissal of Marco Jansen. Hardik did a good job of defending 16 off the final over as India won the match by seven runs.

After the final, Kohli revealed that he had played his last T20I for India. He retired as the second-highest run-getter in the format as of now with 4188 runs in 125 matches averaging 48.70 and striking at 137.04.
